Vitacress Salads hosts a Recognition Lunch to celebrate achievements in the workplace.

Vitacress Salads held their 7th Recognition Lunch on Monday 21st June when Nick Stenning, CEO and Mike Rushworth, MD of the UK Business Unit, presented 9 awards to individuals and teams throughout the business in recognition of their achievements.
The People's Award voted for by Vitacress employees and won by the team of Drivers in recognition of their exemplary efforts to reach their customers during the January snow fall. The Bowls Team received a huge amount of credit for the successful launch of the new Sainsbury Salad Bowl, almost doubling the original sales targets. Lauren Mears, Manufacturing Technician was recognised for her innovation which has reduced changeover time on the Yellow and Red teams pack lines from as high as 27 minutes to 3 – 4 minutes.
The MDW Team awards went to the St Mary Bourne Technical Team for the Highest Goal Alignment Scores. The Finance Team were the Most Improved Team for Goal Alignment and the Low Risk Team for the Most Improved in MDW Asset Care. Kelly Fraser and Martin Erison were recognised for their commitment to the 5S Steering Group and to Mamo and The Amesbury Packing Team for the Best New MDW Team. Congratulations to all the winners.
Winners of the 2009 Best Factory of the Year Awards credit their success to Mission Directed Work Teams (MDW)

Winners of the 2009 Best factory of the Year Awards, Barfoots of Botley and JohnsonDiversey attended the Best Factory Conference on 23rd March 2010. Speakers Julian Marks from Barfoots and Sean Madden & Neil Goddard from Diversey attributed their success in the 2009 Best Factory Awards to the implementation of MDW at their plants.
Barfoots of Botley winner of the Supply Chain Award and highly commended for Best Small Company began their MDW journey with CDI London Ltd in 2008.
JohnsonDiversey earned their first award at the 2005 Manufacturing Excellence Awards after introducing MDW with CDI London Ltd. The company continued to use the Mission Directed Work Team programme and went on to achieve success at 2009 Best factory Awards, winning Best Process Plant and the Siemens Energy & Environment Award.

CDI London clients once again shine at the annual Best Factory Awards

At the recent 2009 Best Factory Awards, Barfoots of Botley was awarded the 'Supply Chain Award' and was Highly Commended for the 'Best Small Company Award'. Barfoots supplies corn on the cob all year round to just about every supermarket chain in the UK. The corn factory employees work in 'Mission Directed Work Teams' (MDW), focusing on improving Quality Speed and Cost. Individual innovation is encouraged and ideas are discussed at the daily team meetings with a target of implementing one new idea per shift.
JohnsonDiversey UK was announced as winner in two categories; 'Best Process Plant' and the 'Energy & Environment Award'. JohnsonDiversey attributes a lot of their success to staff engagement. Everyone is involved in making things happen and the impact of this is significant with the UK factory now making triple the out put it was designed for. Change over times are significantly faster and Quality levels and Customer Service ratings are consistently at 99% and above. Alongside a commitment to the WWF Climate Saver's Programme, JohnsonDiversey UK has implemented initiatives which support their customer's environmental awareness.
CDI London Ltd congratulates Barfoots of Botley and JohnsonDiversey UK on their achievements in the 2009 BFA awards. Barfoots of Botley began implementing MDW early in 2008 and the recognition they have received from the BFA is well deserved. In addition, they received top marks in the most Improved Plant Category in this years Best Factory Awards.
Soon after implementing MDW with help of CDI London, Johnson Diversey UK won the Manufacturing Excellence Award in 2005. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength with MDW now part of the culture.

NVQ's for Mission Directed Work Teams (MDW)

CDI London has teamed up with Basingstoke College of Technology to offer National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ), with the Mission Directed Work Teams (MDW) programme.
The MDW training and implementation, together with some additional workshop time and coaching, provides potential candidates with the majority of the work-based evidence needed for the qualification. MDW is seen as an excellent basis for NVQ candidates in Business Improvement Techniques.
The NVQ will include the following topics;
• Complying with Statutory Regulations and Safety Requirements
• Effective Team Working
• Workplace Organisation (5S)
• Continuous Improvement Techniques (Kaizen)
• Creating Visual Management Systems
• One Optional Module
CDI London is delighted that alongside implementation of MDW, businesses now have the opportunity to include a nationally recognised qualification for their front line team members.
