MISSION DIRECTED WORKFORCE - A TESTIMONY
Nestle Purina PetCare (Wisbech) Improvement inherently requires change. While all change can be difficult, driving the cultural change required for sustainable improvement is a Herculean feat. What's more, you only have one chance to get it right. To give yourself the best possible chance, not only do you need a strategic plan, sound preparation and a passion for sustainable improvement, you need the correct expert support. The support gained from CDI London enabled the introduction of sustainable continuous improvement through the implementation of Mission Directed Work Teams. Fifteen months of preparation followed by six months of implementation has already started to bring demonstrable results in most KPI's, and the journey has only just begun.
Once started, CDI's continued regular, "shop floor" support and improvement tracking drives sustainability and accelerates implementation. It is not easy and requires dedicated resources and determination, but allied with the expert support that CDI brings, the potential is enormous. Whilst many companies strive to implement continuous improvement tools, many fail to implement the vital organisational alignment that brings about sustainability, the result is a fad centred series of failed initiatives. MDW starts by delivering the organisational alignment that provides a foundation on which any tool can be implemented. The result is a culture where improvement is not only embraced, it is the result of the organisation's way of working. We strive towards continuous improvement on a journey that never ends.

Nestle Purina France
Nestle Purina France began MDW with Module 1 - Goal Alignment in January 2008, and have since progressed well with implementation at their site in Veauche, near St Etienne, which employs 260 people. Plant Director Pierre Achard and his team now have Mini Businesses running in all areas of the plant and its administration. Training for Module 2 – 5S and Visual Management, took place in September 2008, and work is well under way with implementation.
